Apply for a visa for France in Indonesia:
Visa applications submitted in Indonesia will be issued by the Embassy of France in Jakarta, which is the only authority capable of making decisions concerning visas.
The time it takes for your visa to be issued may vary according to the applicant’s nationality and the requested visa type. Furthermore, the timespan between your registration date and your appointment date may also vary according to the seasons. Therefore, it is recommended for you to take an appointment as soon as your trip’s departure date is known.
The visa application registration is done through France-Visas website .
Visa applications have to be accompanied by supporting documents requested by France-Visas. Only the documents lists provided by France-Visas are valid.

Appointment delays :
The amount of appointments available per day at the TLScontact centre is set by the Embassy of France in Indonesia; therefore the delay for obtaining an appointment at TLScontact can vary according to the period of the year.
For a short stay visa, the length of examination of the application file by the consulate is 48 hours after its reception by the visa section of the French Embassy however the issuance of the visa can also depends of the automatic, obligatory and incompressible controls made by the authorities of the other Schengen States. Besides during high seasons, the visa issuance delay can possibly reach a 3 weeks delay. Therefore applicants need to anticipate and to submit their applications to TLScontact whilst taking into consideration these delays in accordance to their departure date.
After submitting at TLScontact, your visa application files will be immediately transferred to the Embassy of France in Indonesia. Once the visa is delivered, the TLScontact team will immediately receive your passport and you will be contacted to come for retrieval.
Notice : if the visa applicant will travel in a group or with family members, he will need to fill one form for each accompanying person.
In unforeseen cases, the appointment date can be changed by contacting TLScontact by phone on +62.21.3970.2666. The service is available from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Practical information on the application progress
During your registration through the call center or through the TLScontact Indonesia centre website, you need to provide a valid e-mail address in order to receive a confirmation mail for your appointment.
Do not forget to bring
- The Appointment Confirmation letter (printed) ;
- Your passport containing at least two blank pages. The passport number has to be identical with the passport number written on the Appointment Confirmation letter ;
- The payment methods for the visa and service fee ;
- All necessary documents organized and sorted according to the document list.
NB : If your documents aren’t complete (missing documents), you can either decide to withdraw your application and take another appointment (no service fee will be asked), or to still submit your appointment. In this case, you will be asked to sign a document indicating the missing documents.
Inside the biometry counters, a photo of you will be taken and your digital fingerprints will be collected.
Children under 12 years old will not need to go through the biometry process, the application shall be presented by one of the two parents or by someone who possesses parental authority. The child’s photo, which is conforming to ICAO standards (pdf), will be scanned instead.
After the biometry process, you can exit the Visa Application Centre.
For security reasons, Visa Applicants are not permitted to bring any object deemed to be a security risk for the Visa Application Centre such as:
- Any sharp objects
- Weapon or weapon-like objects
The use of mobile phones, cameras and other video recording devices is strictly forbidden. Visa Applicants will be asked to switch off their electronic devices at the entrance of the Visa Application Centre. It is at TLScontact’s discretion to ask the Visa Applicants to place their devices in a dedicated cabinet.
Suitcases are not permitted in the Visa Application Centre. Backpacks and purses may be subject to search at the entrance of the Visa Application Centre. Anyone found carrying a dangerous item will be refused access to the centre.
Only Visa Applicants, authorized representatives and authorized accompanying parties (such as those providing assistance to the mobility-impaired or those requiring translation) will be allowed access to the Visa Application Centre at the security checkpoint.
Retrieving your passport :
You have three options to retrieve your passport:
Going by yourself to TLScontact :
The visa applicant will go to TLScontact’s passback, bringing his application checklist given by TLScontact during the application submission and his Identity Card. The process is fast, without any queueing.
Sending a representative :
The visa applicant can send someone else to take his passport in his place, bringing:
- The original and a copy of the representative’s and the applicant’s Identity Card ;
- A letter of authority written and signed by the applicant ;
- The application checklist given by TLScontact during the application submission.
You can send your passport through express courier (paid service) :
The applicant can send his passport through special courier. This service is optional and will be charged an extra fee. The applicant will be able to receive his passport directly at the specified address. This service can be asked during his appointment submission at the TLScontact centre.
Particular situations
France's jurisdiction :
The French services are competent to process visa applications for all categories of people residing in Indonesia.
Schengen Representation :
France does not represent any Schengen partners in Indonesia.
Fees
Visa Fee :
The visa application fee is fixed in Euros but payable only in IDR. The exchange rate between these currencies is decided by the Embassy and is updated periodically, therefore the IDR amount you are requested to pay may differ from those previously specified.

Service Fee of TLScontact :
The base service fee is set by the Consulate in euros and converted into local currency. It is the equivalent of 24€ in local currency per application and cannot be refunded, except if the applicant had decided to withdraw his applicant before the biometric data collection.
Additional paid services are also available for visa applicants (ID photos, photocopy, courier services)
The service fees have to be paid in cash or by card in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) at the Visa Application Centre during the application process. It is necessary to check if you possess the correct amount of money before coming to the Centre.
These fees have to be paid in Indonesian Rupiah.
The fees in IDR fluctuates according to the applicable exchange rate.
