Submit your application at a visa centre for France, in Iran
Visa applications submitted in Iran are processed at the Embassy of France in Tehran. Decisions to grant or refuse a visa are strictly taken by French Diplomatic and Consular authorities.
- For short stay applications, be sure to submit your documents at least 15 days before your date of departure.
- For long stay visa, be sure to apply at least 1 month before your date of departure.
Visa application can be submitted within 6 months before the trip or within 3 months before the expiration of the previous circulation visa.
Whom should I contact?
Reception of applicants and visa applications submission are undertaken by VFS Global centre in Tehran. Visa applications are processed by the Embassy of France in Tehran.
Regardless of nationality and city of residence, all applicants living in Iran can apply at the VFS Global visa centre in Tehran.
However, persons unwilling to use VFS services may submit their application at the visa section of the Embassy of France in Tehran (see contact details below).
In order to get an appointment sooner, it is strongly recommanded to submit visa applications at VFS GLOBAL Visa Application Centre.

Submitting applications
Persons unwilling to use VFS services may submit their application at the visa section of the embassy of France on Monday from 8.30 am to 11.30 am with prior appointment (email : visas.teheran@diplomatie.gouv.fr). This process is longer than submitting to VFS.
Collecting passports
Wednesday between 10.00 a.m. and 12.00 p.m.
Preparing for your visit to the Centre
When applying for an appointment through VFS Global you will be asked to provide an email address where you can receive the appointment confirmation letter. You will be asked to produce this letter when you visit the VFS Visa Centre in Tehran.
Attendance in person
Visa applicants must submit their visa application in person at VFS Global Visa Centre. However, if you meet the following conditions, you can entrust your application to a third-party to submit it on your behalf:
- You are applying for a short-stay Schengen visa;
- You have been granted a Schengen visa in the previous 59 months and you have a copy of your old Schengen visa.
- Your biometric data (photograph and fingerprints) have already been taken for a previous visa.
Remember to bring the following
- The appointment confirmation letter (printed out);
- Your passport with at least 2 blank pages. The passport number must be identical to the one mentioned on the appointment confirmation letter;
- The file containing all the required documents presented in the same order as on the list of required documents;
- Payment to cover the cost of the visa and the visa processing fees.
If your visa application is incomplete (i.e. missing documents), you may choose not to submit your application until you have all the required documents and come back to the Visa Centre at a later date and after making a new appointment. You will not have to pay any visa processing fees if you decide not to submit your application at this time. However, if you do decide to submit an incomplete application, you will be asked to sign a document indicating that your application is incomplete and that certain documents are missing.
Submitting a complete application does not guarantee the issuance of a visa by the consular authorities.
VFS Global employees will check if your application is complete according to the visa requirements list provided by French Consular authority. VFS Global employees are not authorized to express any opinion about the quality of the application or the decision to be taken by French Consular Authority as the role of VFS GLOBAL is limited to the assembling of your application and to the mandatory collection of your biometric data. VFS Global does not play any role in the examination of the visa application. The decision to grant or refuse a visa is strictly taken by the visa section of the Embassy of France in Tehran.
Biometrics
All visas issued by France are biometric visas.
Any visa applicant aged 12 or older is required to file their first visa application in person. The following biometric data will be required: a photograph, scanned or taken at the time of submission of application, and 10 fingerprints, taken flat and digitised.
However, it is also possible to have your previous biometric data re-used if you were issued a Schengen visa within at least the previous 59 months.
Children under 12 years of age are not required to provide the biometric data; the application must be submitted by the child’s parent/legal guardian. The photograph in the ISO/IEC format (pdf) of the child will be scanned.

Security regulations
As per the Embassy of France security requirements,
We do not permit interested parties such as friends, relatives or Business contacts to accompany visa applicants. However, interpreters are allowed to accompany hearing-impaired applicants at the Visa Application Centre. Physically challenged applicants will be accompanied by our staff.
Anyone willing to enter visa center must follow security process.
Due to security concerns, the following items will not be permitted or stored inside the Visa Application Centre:
All battery operated or electronic gadgets such as cameras, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3's, floppies, laptops, or portable music players.
All bags such as travel bags, back packs, briefcases, suitcases, leather / jute / cloth bags and zip folders. Only a plastic bag containing your application related papers would be permitted.
Sealed envelopes or packages.
Any inflammable item such as matchboxes/ lighters/ fuel etc.
Any sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail filers.
Weapon or weapon like objects or explosive material of any kind.
The list provided above is not final. Other items may be prohibited based on security staff's discretion.
Tracking your application
After your appointment and submitting your application at the visa centre, you can track its progress on VFS website :
When VFS Global visa centre receives your passport, a text message is automatically sent if you subscribe to this service. You can collect your passport yourself, or have it collected by an authorized third-part or courrier service.

Student visa
Prior to submitting your visa application, you have to set up an appointment with Campus France office in Tehran : http://www.iran.campusfrance.org/fa/
Official and diplomatic passports
Official and diplomatic passports holders can submit their application directly to the visa section of the French Embassy.
Fees
The fees required for submitting a visa application are composed of :
- Visa fees (pdf) charged by the French Administration to process your visa application. The applicable fees are indicated and payable in Euros (€). This fee collected by the administration is non-refundable, even if your visa application is rejected ;
- Service charges collected by VFS Global when you submit your application to the external service provider. The service fees are payable in Euros. It costs 31 Euros per submitted application. This amount is not refundable unless the applicant decides not to submit his/her application before the biometric data is collected. Additional services are available at VFS Global visa center (payment by cash only at VFS Global visa center).
