Information / Resumption of operations

France’s diplomatic and consular posts will soon resume issuing visas. It is therefore once again possible to apply online via the France-Visas portal.

The following categories will initially be treated as a priority by the posts concerned (dependent on the current capacities of the posts in question) :

  • Studies/exams (short- and long-stay)
  • Professional grounds for settlement in France
  • Family grounds for settlement in France

Reception conditions for visa applicants will be subject to particular attention from a health perspective.

Additional information will be provided to users by the relevant posts and contractors in countries where the reception of applications has been outsourced.

Lastly, any issuance of a visa is not a guarantee of entry into French territory, which remains governed by the restrictions applicable at the borders. Before applying for a visa, check you are authorized to enter on the following page .

Short-stay visa / Updated visa fees

Following a decision by the European Union applicable to all Schengen Area Member States, short-stay visa fees will increase from 60 euros to 80 euros (and from 35 euros to 40 euros for children between 6 and 12 years old). This increase shall apply as of 2 February 2020. It does not affect short-stay visas for French Overseas Territories, nor prices which have been negotiated under facilitation agreements.


Cerfa form in draft

The day of your appointment you must imperatively present your CERFA in final paper version. It must not have the word "DRAFT". If your CERFA has the mention "DRAFT", this means that your application is not finalized on France-Visas and will therefore be refused on the day of filing.

Attention, the day of your appointment you must print and come with your receipt. In case of absence of a document present on your receipt, your visa application can be refused.
