Appointment information

Appointment waiting times

The visa office tries to process applications within 7 working days, but additional verifications or technical problems can lengthen these delays.

We recommend making an appointment well in advance of your planned departure date to avoid disappointment.

The filing of an application is possible from 6 months before the date of departure.

Security information

When you visit a French Consulate, you must not bring any weapons or dangerous items with you. Security checks will be performed before you are admitted to the premises.

Preparing your arrival

Personal appearance: visa applicants must submit their visa application in person to the French Embassy.

Remember to bring the following:

  • The appointment conformation letter (printed out);
  • The passport : the passport number must be identical to the passport number indicated on the appointment confirmation letter;
  • The file containing all the required documents presented in the same order as on the list of required documents;
  • Payment in € to cover the cost of the visa.

NB: If your file is not complete (missing documents), you can either decide not to file your application and make another appointment (no service fee will be requested), or to file it anyway. In this case, you will be asked to sign a document indicating the missing documents.

Filing a complete application does not necessarily mean that the Consular Authority will issue you the requested visa.

All visas issued by France are biometric visas.

Your photograph in the ISO/IEC format (pdf) will be scanned and your fingerprints will be taken.

Children under the age of 12 years are not subject to fingerprint collection. Their file including form, photo, individual passport, visa fees, and required documents for each child must be brought to the visa department by the father or the mother of the child, or the person having parental authority.
