Apply for a visa for France

Visa applications submitted in North Macedonia are examined by the Visa Service of the Embassy of France in North Macedonia, which has sole authority to take visa decisions.

Whom should I contact?

The following visa applications must be submitted, by appointment, to the consular section of the French Embassy in Skopje :

  • Visa applications from residents of North Macedonia;
  • Long-stay visa applications from residents of Kosovo.

To check the list of required documents, please see the "Do I need a visa?" section.

Nationals of North Macedonia and Kosovo do not need a visa to stay in France for less than 90 days.

Short-stay visa applications from residents of Kosovo must be submitted to the Embassy of Switzerland to Kosovo

What are the application fees?

A visa application file can only be examined after payment of an application fee (pdf). The amount is collected only in cash, in Macedonian denars (MKD) at the current chancery rate.

Payment by cheque or credit card is not accepted. This fee does not correspond to the cost of the visa but to the cost of examining the file. A receipt corresponding to the amount paid is given to the visa applicant.

No refund, even partial, is made in case of visa refusal.

Book an appointment

Please make an appointment well in advance of your scheduled departure date to avoid any issues. Applications can be submitted from 6 months before the departure date.

For long-stay visa applications, your appointment with the Embassy must be at least two months before your trip.

It is however possible to retrieve your biometric data, if a previous biometric Schengen visa was issued to you less than 59 months ago.

Children under 12 years old are exempt from biometrics, the file must be presented by one of the child's parents or by the person having parental authority, however the child's presence is mandatory when filing. The ISO/IEC (pdf) compliant photograph of the child will then be scanned.
