Practical informations about your appointment in the visa application centres

You need to be present in person to submit your application in the VFS.Global applications centres.

When getting prepared for you appointment, please do not forget to bring:

  • Your passport: the passport number must be the same as mentioned on your appointment letter.
  • Means of payment of the visa fees: cash or debit card.
  • Your application which must contain all required documents put in the right order as per the list of supporting documents, 1 set of original documents, 1 set of copies in A4 size.

Please note: in case of missing documents, you can decide either not to submit your application and take another appointment (in this case, VFS.Global service fees will have to be paid again), or to submit and sign a document listing the missing documents.

Application with all of supporting documents does not automatically mean that your visa will be granted.

VFS.Global offers against payment optional services : photos, photocopies, assistance to fill the online form, courier service for your passport return.

Biometric data collection :

France only issues biometric visas.

Applicants aged 12 on the day of appointment have to be present to apply in order to allow biometric data to be collected: picture (photo or scan) and fingerprints (10 fingers).

There is a possibility to access applicants’ biometric data when a Schengen visa has been previously issued less than 59 months before.

Children aged under 12 are exempt from biometric data collection. Their application has to be submitted by one of the parents or by a person entrusted with legal authority on them. Their ISO/IEC format photograph (pdf) will be scanned.

Following biometrics data collection, visa application procedure is over.

Tracking your application

After submitting your application in the Centre, you can track the progress of your application on the VFS website .

An additional service is proposed by VFS Global to track your application. SMS news updates will be sent to you informing you of the status of your visa application.

Collecting your passport

You can collect your passport yourself, or have it collected by an authorized third-party or courier service.

If you authorise a third-party to collect your passport, he / she has to bring the authority letter (pdf) approved by VFS Global duly competed and signed by yourself and his / her identity document.

If you want the envelope containing your passport (and any other documents) to be returned to you by the consular authorities by post, please indicate that you want to use the courier service when you submit your application.
